She said that he knew exactly how to hold her, apparently because he's held quadriplegic children. He continued dancing and singing throughout this.

This.kills.me. She says "I'm a quad" He says "That okay" Like, meh, no big deal and lifts her and fecking dances with her!!!! Who does stuff like this? Well, Clay Aiken does, thank you very much. Heart.melts.goo.

Yeah I cannot stop crying and this is not good cause I have things to do!. I bet the last thing in the world this girl expected from last night's concert was to DANCE with CLAY. Unreal how much I love this guy.

What a day/night/day it's been!

Thanks to Scarlett & Halos for the wonderful JNT Clack! I'm downloading mp3's now and will be burning a new CD for the car! Thank you so much!

I love, love, love IBHFC...GAH to the nth degree. Brandi will have to be careful in Cleveland that she doesn't slip and fall on the puddle I'll become after that song. *sigh*

I really liked the GN encore song...but I wanted desperately to slap those silly beyotches who ruined parts of it with their famewhoring screams! God deliver me from idiots like that! I hope we get another mp3 of that song without those ridiculous interruptions.

The Mistletoe Picture: OMG, GAH, *swoon*, puddle of goo!!!!! ummm, yeah I lurve it! Would've made a much nicer poster and keychain than the photos that were chosen. Demmit! I may have to buy two programs so I can cut it out and frame it.

Andy's back on guitar...sweet. I lurve me some Danny, but if Danny was unavailable I'm very pleased that Andy was brought back.

Happy Birthday to Kathyd52 & paradox hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Welcome to the Clackhouse Squeaker! Glad to have another Ohio Meer on board! Post more, post often!

nc claymate I want to tell you that I loved your Tapestry montage. It is beautiful, the music is very appropriate and I loved the video clips and photos you chose. While there is, as was pointed out, a bit of a religious tone to the ending...I personally didn't find it heavy handed in the least...just beautiful. Thank you.

Back to listening to more Christmas music and counting the days until December 21 when I get to hear it in person~

OOPS! How could I forget to say YAY!!!!!!! for #2 on NYT list! Way to Go Clay!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Scarlett, Halos, Eva, Spot and all you wonderful clack gatherers and cell certers for making the first Joyful Noise Tour so exciting and fun

A hearty thanks to all of the above but I must add my personal thanks and a big MUAH to Beagle3 without her last night none of the above would have been possible. My computer was running fine all day, but when I headed downstairs last night to sign on for the concert all I got was a message that said insert proper disk to reboot, or words to that effect. HUH? Rushed upstairs to find Mrhensey was not asleep yet, though he may as well have been, all I got was a shrug out of him when I told him about the problem. I put in a call to Beagle and she put her phone next to her computer speaker so I could hear. I went through 3 phones listening to the cell/computer cert (why don't my girls put the phones back in the cradle when they're done) Hope my calls didn't disturb MrB's slumber. Of course after the concert was over my computer mysteriously came back to life, wtf.........it is a full moon after all.

Is their a scan of the program thank yous/credits?

Yes, that's my plan and I'd like to get one of those also.

Now that mistletoe-in-the-doorway picture? THAT is a CD cover!!!!

Maybe when Clay sings it to us it becomes "Slay Ride". Heh.

Clay holding and dancing with the woman in the wheelchair? An ineffably beautiful moment in time.
If THAT man wants to wear a crazy Oneida 'do and then try to sell us its likeness on a shirt, I say, where do I pay?

My first JNT is on Dec. 4th in Baltimore...so I am going to try and stay spoiler free. I skimmed ever so slightly so that I wouldn't know too much before hand. Though, I must confess...I saw the OHN acronym and was all over the vault like white on rice. I downloaded it...but I have NOT listened/watched. I can be strong! I can! SHUT UP! But seriously, thanks to the mods and the clack gatherers....it's comforting to know that it will be there once I've seen the show.

I saw a couple things on clack smackdowns. *sigh* I don't really have good enough seats to even try for clack...except for the first Raleigh show maybe. I hope by then they will have relaxed a bit on this. I NEED CLACK, but I'd really prefer not to get kicked out. That would suck Christmas balls.

YAY for the best seller lists! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

*stares at OHN, resisting the urge to double click*

Well, I had all sorts of witty, cogent ponderings to share but then I saw the doorway photo and it is hard to type wedged tightly into the corner of the handbasket like this.

We may need to apply for frequent basket miles.

Off to deal with the gas leak. Don't ask.

I've been watching the videos and am crying now. Thank you, thank you brave clack gatherers! This beautiful man will sing to us forever. This is the way Christmas music should be sung--with reverence, love, hope, and a light touch. I couldn't be prouder of Clay for giving us this very special concert when he was obviously still recovering. Yes, there were some glitches, but it just makes me love him more. Gosh, I don't usually get this gushy, but these videos make me all weepy. I love his expressions while he is singing these songs. Silent Night was beautiful and I loved the strong deep end note. Hee. The dancing with Angela and playfulness was gah. The duet with Quiana was a lovely blending of voices. O Holy Night was incredible, especially the ending, both endings!

I really enjoyed seeing the back of the orchestra leader directly behind Clay. He matched Clay completely, even though they were with their backs to each other. I'm sure they both had sound in their ears, but one point especially struck me when the Director held his hands up and brought them down at exactly the point Clay hit his high note. It was a delayed note, so I wondered how in the world they synchronized that.

Thanks for the wonderful recaps and especially to our lucky meers who were able to have some of that individual Aiken attention. Gah. The story of the handicapped lady was one I will always remember.

I wonder if the children are traveling with the tour. How many children were there? Did any of them seem to be the same that are on the Special? I wonder if they could be part of Clay's family.

There must be some substantial expenses involved with this tour. I think the JNT is a gift from Clay to his fans. I'm so glad he is showing us this side of himself. As someone wise said, same gift, different wrap.

The children were from the Riverside Drive Elementary School here in Sherman Oaks, CA. The high school choir was from Costa Mesa. I expect that there will be local choirs in each location.

Let me add that there were many wonderful things in the show last night, not the least of which was S'Von on a beautiful concert grand. Lots of people who play keyboards are not so great when it comes to a real piano. He was amazing, with a wonderful touch and total command of the ivories.

Golly, I feel like such a bad Clay fan. I wish I had enjoyed it more, but I kept thinking of my friend, who was seeing this with non-fan eyes, and viewing less than perfection.

Artquest goes off to write "I Love Clay Aiken" 500 times in a spiral notebook.

This just in from the Washington Post!!

More "good news" from the DC area. I just got the Sunday circulars and with it came the book section. On page 11 there is the Washington area bestsellers list and LTS is #3 on the nonfiction/general list!
Small print at the bottom says "Rankings reflect sales for the week ended November 21, 2004." The book was only out for 6 days and still made it to #3, with America(The Book) at #1 and His Excellency: George Washington at #2. No reviews yet, hopefully a good one is coming soon. I am so proud of Clay, and I just can't wait 7 more days for the concert in Baltimore!!!

Thanks again to the gutsy and wonderful Clack gatherers! I appreciate your work so much. Muah!!

This made me truly BWAH!! I remember my reaction to Provincetown, the first time I visited there as a young, sheltered, small-town girl in the late seventies...talk about a Whole New World! (Eye-opening, but pretty cool!)

I missed the concert last night because I was feeling tired and achin'. ("Achin," NOT "Aiken." If I'd been feelin' him, I'd have kept it to myself.) I was sorry not to share in the chatroom fun, but will probably be in there tonight. I've decided not to download anything, though, so that when I see him on Thursday night (waves to buzzie!!), I will be unspoiled. I am still a bit concerned about his voice, and I'm probably risking my cyber-life here, but I'm thinking maybe he should have postponed until he was completely recovered. Not that I'm not happy for cvg (way to go!!) or any of the rest of the people there last night, but I'm worried about the guy. He's not the healthiest thing, it seems to me, and I just wish he'd had more time to get over his illness before setting out on this concert series, where he's not only singing with vocal cord problems, but he's exposing himself to yet more germ-carriers. (And I'm not even someone who's usually obsessive-compulsive about germs!)

As for those screamers and sign carriers? S. T .F. U. you dimwits!! GEEZ. I'm surprised no one got into a brawl with them.

I"m with you Jude, on saving the voice.

As for those "Marry me Clay" screamers....I'm thinking of reviving the fine art of peashooting .......

If one of those chickees is near me, I might not be able to contain myself-don't worry, there won't be one of those Jerry Springer rolling in the aisles "smackdowns", but would I ever be tempted. I'm practicing my ominous glare and stage "shooshing" though!

I went to the Walmart in town today to pick up a couple of more MCWL cds and to see if there were any LTS on their Inspirational, Best Sellers, or New Additions shelves. Didn't see any LTS anywhere. Hmmm. But they did have MCWL in their best sellers box at #8. Number 8? Oh well, at least they were there. I took note of that Q number on the price tag - and those of Fanty's new album and Ruben's (the latter which I did buy. I always said if Rube recorded a gospel album I'd be the first to buy one - maybe not the first, but I bought one. I love the title track as well as "Shout it to the Lord". But I digress [tm: HH]) The Q (quantity?) number on Fanty's album is Q40. Ruben's is Q65. Now, here's the interesting thing (okay, so I'm easily amused...) The first MCWL that I bought on opening day had a Q number of Q18. Today's? Q 182. And there didn't seem to be a helluva lot of 'em out there.... The man's voice is selling - I hope once the special airs supply will meet the demand, because if he's selling this on word of mouth now, I can only imagine what will happen once Mr. Aiken is heard at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting and his NBC special.

ETA: re: the concern of saving his voice - the thing that's got me most concerned is the flying back and forth from coast to coast. It's not uncommon for infections to be inflamed during flights due to the recycled air supply. I know my mom, who has respiratory issues, always - and I mean always - gets sick after taking a flight. He's coming east to sing to MEEEE, but I worry that it may be one more hurdle to get over.

If Jerome or some other big guy ever start checking our bras in front of everybody before letting us go into the concert room, à la airport security guards, I’m killing Spot dead!!

I KEED! I KEED! Not! Thank you to all the brave meers who brought us the clack! Labretonne (Let's make something clear once and for all. She is only half Bretonne; I'm the real deal. I bastardized my blood! May my ancestors forgive me.) and I are leaving for SLC tomorrow! EEEEEE! Ten hours of driving to go. Ten hours of driving to come back. Hearing and seeing Clay sing for 1 1/2 hours... worth every mile!

I do see that the encore may be a strange choice.

But smart artists sing a soft song as an encore to calm down the crowd. It's to minimize the number of trampled people when the overexcited crowd leaves the arena. It’s like the after-climax thingy; you need time to calm down. Of course, after a few slow, religious, Christmas songs, it just may not be needed!! Just a thought Clay.

Quote:
I'm a little surprised that Jerome was soooo vigilant about shutting down the people taking video. [. . . ] Well if it goes like NAT, the enforcement will be uneven and we'll have venues where we get more clack.

Give it up already Jerome!! You can’t take all of us down!

I love this beautiful man! I mean Clay. Just thought I’d be clear on that too.

That was going great right up until the encore. Could he have picked a more unknown, boring song? That was the perfect spot to throw in JTTW. End the show on an upbeat peppy note.

I would have liked to hear Joy to the World, too - somewhere else in the program - but I feel the encore song was just as effective as Solitaire - beautiful, pure, moving, and I believe it is meaningful for Clay,
I guess the downside to cellcerts...never mind.

My non-fan friend who went said “The encore was exceptional” - she loved it. And no, she’s not religious at all. She came away very impressed with Clay and she said she had a good time. She mentioned sound problems in the first half, but that Clay “powered through”. Said he seemed a tad rough on some of the softer parts in the first set, but still was great. She said the second half was rockin’ and that the non-secular songs were amazing. She liked him, said he was “charming and sweet”. <g> High praise from her. She knew going in that he was sick and she said she thought he was saving his voice during the first act – and that the second act definitely was more vocally demanding, even though he was fantastic.

He’s waiting for you after you had a long day at work. He started a fire and hung the mistletoe – conveniently standing under it as you come up the walk. <g> Gah, indeed. Wonder what kind of rug is in front of the fire place. <g>

Golly, I feel like such a bad Clay fan. I wish I had enjoyed it more, but I kept thinking of my friend, who was seeing this with non-fan eyes, and viewing less than perfection.

Hey, I had a similar reaction. I found out my non-fan friend was going and I started worrying. I KNOW she would love him if he weren’t sick, I know he’s capable of claverting all on his own – but I was worried all day about her going to the concert. Turns out I was worrying for nothing. Clay at less than a hundred percent really impressed her, as I said, above. She even called him HOT when he was wearing that long coat. In regard to the sweater she said it was about five sizes too big and that someone needs to feed the boy a burger. <g> But her calling him “hot” is a big deal. She’s a Duchovny fan from way back. <g> Interestingly, she said that she bet that someone got their ass kicked at intermission because of the sound problems. <g> I told her that, plus a vending machine was probably beaten up. <g>

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the very brave clack gatherers. These JNT concerts are very special. It just thrills me that he is singing with an orchestra and a real piano! I watched the WAYDNYE clip from Airplay and my eyes got all teary. What a man.

I'm also with Divayenta and Jude on saving the voice. I'm worried. I wish he had more time. The vox is still lovely, but you can tell it is rough. That being said, I'd rather listen to Clay's rough voice than others with their healthy voice.

Oh, that black long jacket? Mm mm good. I looove those long jackets on him. And his cheekbones are sure cutting the glass. Don't care for the maroon sweater. But as we all know, Clay will be changing things up and surprising us.

Has the NYT Bestseller list made it to a print copy yet? If so when and if not will it?

I'll and my 'Thank you' to all the intrepid Clack gatherers. The vids I've seen show a gorgeous man doing what he loves. The joy in his face says far more than words ever could. He ain't goin' away any time soon. Loved the suit! Loved the sweater. he sounded much better than I expected based on his voice last week and the short healing time. I bet he was driving everybody in his inner circle nuts with his enforced silence.

Oh, by the way ... There is still *some* room left !

I saw this at the CB via CA.com. I'm a puddle of goo after last night, and now this. Can he be more surprising and adorable? And then there's the vox, oh that vox. I'm done, totally useless, completely inane for the rest of this day. Oh yes, there's another concert tonight. I may have to skip it because my heart can't take any more goodness.

This is from Clay's site:

Denise Heinrichs - 07:28am Nov 27, 2004 EST (1.)

“that lady he danced with” was me !!!!!!!

I almost did not go as I felt terrible and extremely worn out.

When Clay pulled me up to dance and I was buckled into me wheelchair and when I reached put to shake his hand, he tried to pull me up to stand, but I was buckled into my wheelchair as I was telling him "I’m a quad”. (while trying to unbuckle myself).

He stopped singing at this point and said, that’s okay, “I’ve got you” as he lifted me to my feet and held onto me - it was obvious he has worked with disabled people. We danced and he asked me “are you okay” several times while only the orchestra played. I mentioned that my Husband of 25 years was with me and Clay said "so I’m probably in trouble” I told him no !

I could not believe it, people asked if our dancing had been staged. A lady from the Performing Arts Center asked for my name and asked if they could interview me, we'll see if she contacts me.

During the short 5 minute break, during the concert, people from all over the audience came over to find out what Clay had said to me and if it was staged. Several people showed me pictures that they took of us dancing. I told them that I get nervous when people pick me up as I do not walk/ stand up well, but it was obvious Clay knew what he was doing as I felt his ability to hold me up. It was a fun comforable dance, like I was dancing with my brother !

Many fans afterwards told me that my picture will be all over the web tomorrow ! Several people said that they would email me their pictures. I’m looking forward to receiving them. Does anyone remember what song we danced to?

What a night – I am so glad I fought the pain and did push myself to go even though I did not feel good. God is good - I'm going to make it back out of this wheelchair !

I am a Nurse Practitioner, and have been disabled for 9 years but, I continue to help others without healhcare by doing home medical visits and telephone consults. This was such a nice way to celebrate my 25 years with a wonderful Husband and be 'special' even if it was for just 16 bars of music - it felt longer.

Clay, I can't thank you enough, I was all snuggled togethered my Husband, as you sang and you picking me up, not being afraid of my disability was such a boost to our night!

God has blessed you tremdously and I pray that the kids/society will listen to your songs as you sing and see the meaning behind the teriffic man God has chosen you to be !

Thank you to all who gathered clack and reported details last night and today. You are all wonderful and amazing.
