I'm watching the Shelter from the Storm concert and they keep showing all the celebs taking phone calls. No Clay sighting yet, but keep your eyes open people.
Jeesh, does Mariah Carey take that choir everywhere with her? And poor Paul Simon, another songwriter who should leave the singing to others.

They not only denied the child's wish, they made fun of it in a national magazine. I am speechless at this show's and EW's heartlessness. I'm not thrilled about the diss to Clay. But to essentially make fun of a child? Unbelievable. |

Well, I'm not La Loki but I can tell you that lyric, DonnaAC and I are in seventh heaven. When did MrsLoki get all the rights? I've been gone from here too damned long.
......mmmmm....chest.....hair..... How crass would be of me to make a wallpaper of that little patch of heaven?
Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes the other day. I don't get here as often as I'd like but I surely do appreciate it.

WTF?? is wrong with this world?? |
And the crazy thing about it - is that Clay WOULD have participated, would have been GOOD - he can sing, he's great with kids, he'd be a big draw for a new show that might need the ratings his fans would bring.
Unbelievable. |

| To me I don't see a distinction between a genie on Amy's show saying that, or Amy herself. Both represent the show, and it's cause, and making fun of a child for liking whomever is flat out evil. Evil I tell ya. If they didn't want to fulfill the wish, then just say you can't or are unable to do it, but why publically mock this kid? Forget Clay, coss who cares what some asshat beeyotch thinks...but I certainly hope that kid doesn't read this insensitive nonsense. These craptacular reality shows are getting on my last nerve... |

I hope this is good cause I'm fuming right now
Amy Grant's Three 'Conditional' Wishes
I was shocked and saddened to read that the 'Three Wishes' granted to people on Amy Grant's new show of the same name are conditional and heartbreakingly so. That a young girl's wish to meet Clay Aiken, the singer whose music helps her cope with a neighbor's illness would be denied because the respectable young man's music/celebrity is not to the liking of the Producers of the show is nothing short of appalling. A wish is a wish and Clay Aiken is a fine young man. I will not be watching this show thank you very much.

Nice to see the something good came from Hurricane Katrina....for once Mariah Carey is not dressed like a hooker.
(ducks trout) ON TOPIC......... I love that our Boyfriend seems to be making very wise, intelligent and politically correct choices to link his name and/or tacit endorsement to. If anyone ever had any doubts about Aiken's political leanings they have only to read the Kenneth Cole website and the OXFAM mission statement.
I love every little spikey hair on his head and wiry hair on his chest.
And, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, the other night, at my part-time department store job, I heard "I Will Carry You" on the Muzak. For a moment, I forgot just how much my feet hurt.
Oh, and in an addendum to my post last week about the Manilow Fan Club's fundraiser for Katrina relief, the Fans, together with matching funds from the Manilow Fund for Health and Hope and from Barry himself raised over $400,000 in just 2 days.
Why is it that I am wishing that Stiletto/Starglow (the Manilow fanclub organization) was running Clay's Fanclub rather than Clique. IIRC, I always got my purchases from them in a timely manner. RVzLady, I am so sorry for what happened to you.
ETA: Three Wishes.....When I first saw the promos for this show and read about the premise of it, my first thought was that is should be Clay doing this show (and this was before our angs....er.... bullion, du jour about a talk show) and not some no-longer-relevant-cross-over singer.

Can somebody please scan the EW article? I'm going to wait until then, but the bitch, the magazine and NBC will all hear from me.

The answer would be no. No wonder Clay is not on this show. He would show everyone up. Can you imagaine how moving an acoustic IWCY would be? A missed opportunity not for Clay, but for the telethon.
ETA: You can find some of the HR pictures in Cameocat's (CV) album.
H-R Pictures.

Since they removed the high-res photos from the Clayboard that show Clay with polished and buffed fingernails instead of the chewed ones he usually displays, anyone still have a pic of it? I think it was in the photos with Katie Couric, but I am not sure.
Because you all know, this is very important for me to see. If he is not chewing his fingernails, he must be doing something else to relieve his tension. I need proof.
ETA: I looked carefully at the pictures now. I see a little bit of buffing and manicuring on the nails, but they still look a little chewed and short to me.

| About the EW article. I hadn't even opened my magazine yet, but I just went to look. They really seem to harp on the no-Clay thing. There's the sub-headline, which zakaroni already posted, plus the quote in the article, which is followed by "Even without a Claymate-pleasing cameo, NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly expects Thre Wishes "to pop" in the ratings, particularly with the over-30 female crowd." Yea, keep being mean to young kids. I'm sure the female crowd will love that. |

**sign** I just purchased Rob Thomas Tickets for Dec. 3rd. I couldn't put my sis-n-law off any longer. I lurve Rob, but not as much as OCB. It is a small venue that will sell out tomorrow & we could still get tickets through her fan club pass. The fan club will have the first run at the open seating. THIS guarantees that Clay will end up visiting Kansas City for only the 2nd time on Dec. 3rd. Any one that lives in the KC area - Mark your calendars *snerk*.
Clay can handle the stabs like the EW quote. Not a problem. It is the fact that they made a joke out of a childs wish. There was no reason for that to hit print even if they had a laugh behind the scenes of the show. What a way to show a child what kindness means. Even if it was someone making fun of a childs wish to meet Enimem. (I happen to like a few of his songs - but that is another post.) To bad Clay couldn't at least get a signed pic to this kid.

I'm reading Entertainment Weekly Dated Sept. 16th. There is an article on a new show "Three Wishes" hosted by Amy Grant. The blurb:
"No dream is too big-or small-for Amy Grant and her band of genies to fulfill. Unless it involves Clay Aiken. They have to draw the line somewhere".
In reading the article, they mention a young girl who listens to Clays music to help her cope with a neighbours illness, that wanted to meet the singer; sadly (?) they had to pass on Grant-ing that particular fantasy..it then says "i was like Clay aiken? don't laugh .Don't laugh. Don't laugh"
WTF???? |
Dare we hope that Team Clay will hear about this and arrange to grant the wiish anyway? |

Okay...CH detectives. We HAVE to get to the bottom of this.
So wrong on so many levels.
Here are some clues:
Port Townsend Under Consideration For NBC;s "Three Wishes" Television Program Starring Amy Grant this link includes email address for casting director. Sounds like what HE really wants is "good television", which doesn't necessarily involve dealing honestly with either his grantees or his audience. Exploitation for ratings/publicity, if you ask me.

I'm more than a little steamed over this, yo.
So...I'm just curious...does Miss Amy have an album coming out anytime soon?

Yeah, when it works.
But I do look normal and not very smart no matter what Corabeth said:

I don’t think it scared them one bit because I got some very nice and welcoming PM’s from Texas meers today and I can’t wait to get down there and meet them! *Waves to merieeee, marlee1901 and ressamac * BTW…….. I use that umbrella all the time. The hat isn’t quite so fetching but it works real well when I want to embarrass my kids in public just for grinsies.
Pink Armchair, since I only seem to post when the cereal boxes at Kroger are in a particular alignment I’ve probably never told you what a kick I’ve been getting out of “The Road to Bismark”. It’s hilarious, even to someone whose humour is off-center.*g*

Seems like off-center is a good thing, being as that's where Clay's part should be. And I don't mind being in the same company as his part at all. |

It would seem to me that this latest dis if from one of the hosts or producers of the show, not EW itself. It seems to come from the person who was interviewing the child for consideration. I wonder if Clay was not available because of the tour and being away from California when the show was being filmed.
Further extrapolatin' leads me to wonder if there is something going on with NBC. The rumors in the recent magazine about Clay working out something with Touchstone, ABC, and Kimmel makes me wonder if he is no longer affiliated so closely with NBC, and they are not happy about it.
Isn't Clay's second NBC special in doubt? I know, it's farfetched. Blame it on those lousy performances I just saw. |

Thanks for brining the EW article over, filomena.
I do believe that article is worse in print. The juxstaposition from this line:
| Amy Grant in EW wrote: |
| <snip>...I hope the person watching this is inspired, not because Daddy Warbucks came in and solved the problem, but because people pulled together. |
to this:
| Mizota in EW wrote: |
| I was like, Clay Aiken? Don't laugh. Don't laugh. Don't laugh." |
Such a great example of togetherness. Except not. So instead of "Why can't we all just get along", it's "Why can't we just pretend to get along and do a crappy job of it at that."
These "good hearted" people are making my cry, and NOT in a good way.

That is not cool no matter who the singer is or who the quote is attributed too. |
Well, that's just very disappointing and ticks me off. When I saw the preview for Amy Grant's show, I thought that perhaps this might be something Clay would enjoy doing. Not so much now. I'm hoping this makes the rounds of the various boards. There's nothing like ticking off a segment of your potential viewing audience before your show even airs. Friggin Idiots. |
